  1. Create a support network of family members, friends, people in your community and professionals. Be honest with them about your situation and don’t be afraid to ask for help.
  2. Look after your own health and find ways of coping with stress.
  3. Plan things to look forward to and do in the future.
  4. Don’t sweat the small stuff – so what if the hoovering has to wait.
  5. Celebrate small achievements whatever they may be.
  6. Remember you can’t do everything, try and strike a balance.
  7. Ditch the guilt, it’s a wasted energy.
  8. Try and get some regular exercise to create some head space and positive wellbeing.
  9. Make sure you keep talking whether it’s with a friend or your GP – a problem shared is a problem halved.
  10. Turn that frown upside down – try and keep optimistic!
